Occupational Impairment / TDIU Psychological Evaluation

A structured evaluation of current diagnosis, symptoms, and occupational/social impairment. Best suited for veterans who already have an established mental-health condition and need an independent assessment of current severity and functional impact.
Independent Psychological Medical / Nexus Opinion
An independent psychological medical opinion addressing whether available clinical evidence supports a relationship between a current psychological condition and military service, another service-connected condition, or aggravation.
Focused Independent Medical Opinion
For a defined psychological referral question that does not require a full comprehensive evaluation. Complexity and record volume may affect the final fee.
Two-Session Clinical Assessment Program
Two clinical sessions at $200 per session for veterans who need additional assessment before the psychologist can determine whether disability-related documentation is appropriate.
Optional Clinical Review Add-Ons
Prior VA Decision / Denial Clinical Review - $250
Clinical review of a relevant prior VA decision to understand previous examination findings, conflicting evidence, diagnostic questions, and areas requiring additional clinical clarification.

What is the difference between a DBQ and a nexus opinion?
A DBQ (Disability Benefits Questionnaire) documents current diagnosis, symptoms, and functional impairment. A nexus opinion addresses whether evidence supports a clinical relationship between the condition and military service or another service-connected condition. A comprehensive evaluation often includes both.
Does Waypoint guarantee a specific VA rating or service connection?
No. Waypoint evaluates your psychological condition carefully and provides independent professional documentation. The Department of Veterans Affairs makes final determinations regarding service connection, disability ratings, and Individual Unemployability. Our responsibility is to ensure your condition is evaluated thoroughly and documented clearly.
What records should I provide?
Bring available documentation of previous diagnoses, treatment, medications, prior evaluations, and any relevant military medical records. Records that establish when a concern began, how it progressed, and how you have functioned are especially helpful. Detailed records improve the quality of the evaluation.
Can a previous mental health diagnosis prevent service connection?
Not necessarily. VA considers the entire medical and military history. A prior history of anxiety, depression, ADHD, PTSD, or another condition does not automatically prevent service connection. What matters is whether the evidence supports a relationship between the condition and your military service.
What if my VA claim was previously denied?
A prior denial does not prevent you from seeking another evaluation. We can review the previous decision, identify gaps or conflicting evidence, and provide a comprehensive re-evaluation that addresses the issues that may have contributed to the denial. The PLUS packages include prior denial review.
How long does the evaluation take?
The timeline depends on the scope of the evaluation and the complexity of your history. A comprehensive evaluation typically involves 1-3 appointments plus records review and report writing. We discuss scope and timeline at intake so expectations are clear.
Private Pay & Financing
Waypoint Psychology provides these services on a private-pay basis. Qualified clients may have access to healthcare financing that allows eligible services to be paid over time.
