Waypoint Psychology offers a dynamic training environment for psychology students, recent graduates, and early-career professionals seeking hands-on experience in clinical and forensic psychology. We are committed to fostering the next generation of competent, ethical, and thoughtful psychologists.
Our practice provides exposure to complex case conceptualization, comprehensive assessment, forensic evaluation, and evidence-based treatment. Trainees work directly with Dr. Zackery A. Tedder, PsyD, a licensed clinical psychologist and forensic expert with over 14 years of applied experience.
Clinical & Forensic Internship
Full-Year or Semester-BasedOverview
Our clinical internship program is designed for advanced psychology graduate students (preferably in a doctoral program). Interns gain supervised experience across clinical assessment, neuropsychological evaluation, forensic case work, and direct clinical services.
What You'll Do
- Conduct intake assessments and clinical interviews
- Administer and interpret psychological assessments (MMPI-3, WISC-V, WRAT-5, etc.)
- Potentially participate in forensic evaluations and report writing
- Engage in therapeutic work under direct supervision
- Potentially prepare materials for expert testimony and court proceedings
- Attend supervision and case consultation meetings
Requirements
- Enrolled in an accredited doctoral psychology program (PhD, PsyD, or equivalent)
- Completion of core psychology coursework and basic competency assessments
- Ability to commit 20-40 hours per week (flexible, based on program structure)
- Strong written and communication skills
- Interest in forensic psychology or clinical assessment
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Supervision & Training
Interns receive weekly individual supervision, group consultation meetings, and direct feedback on all clinical work. Training emphasizes the development of critical thinking, professional judgment, and ethical practice in complex cases.
Practicum Placements
Semester-BasedOverview
Practicum students gain direct clinical experience in a supervised, structured environment. This placement is ideal for psychology graduate students who need practicum hours toward degree requirements or licensure clock hours.
What You'll Do
- Conduct psychological assessments and clinical evaluations
- Work with clients under close supervision (typically ratio of 1:1 to 1:2)
- Develop treatment plans and clinical documentation
- Participate in regular feedback sessions and case consultation
- Observe expert assessment and forensic work
Requirements
- Enrolled in a Master's or Doctoral psychology program
- Completion of foundational psychology coursework
- Commitment of 12-20 hours per week (based on placement hours)
- Professional liability insurance (covered by our practice)
- Willingness to engage in close supervision and feedback
Program Structure
Practicum placements typically run for a full semester (12-16 weeks). Students work with Dr. Tedder or under his direct supervision, with regular check-ins and case review.
Postdoctoral Fellowship
1-2 Year ProgramOverview
Our postdoctoral fellowship offers advanced training in clinical psychology, forensic evaluation, and psychological assessment for individuals who have completed their doctorate. This is an ideal opportunity to develop expertise in forensic work, neuropsychological assessment, and complex case management prior to pursuing independent licensure or employment.
What You'll Do
- Conduct comprehensive forensic evaluations (competency, criminal responsibility, risk assessment, etc.)
- Administer and interpret advanced psychological and neuropsychological assessments
- Develop expert reports and provide testimony testimony
- Maintain an independent clinical caseload under supervision
- Participate in case consultation, didactic training, and professional development
- Engage in scholarly activity or research if desired
Requirements
- Doctoral degree (PhD, PsyD) in Clinical Psychology or related field
- Completion of an APA-accredited doctoral program (preferred)
- Interest in forensic psychology and/or psychological assessment
- Commitment to full-time training (40+ hours per week)
- Texas licensure (or eligibility to obtain)

Program Duration & Structure
