Malick Absy, MSW

Malick is a Psychology Technician at Waypoint Psychology, where he conducts Mental Status Examinations (MSEs) to support comprehensive psychological assessments. Through direct observation, structured interviewing, and detailed documentation, he helps develop a clear and accurate picture of each client’s mental health and overall functioning.

He earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Social Work from the University of Texas and is on track to receive his LMSW license in September 2025. Malick’s clinical experience includes working with unhoused individuals in Austin and completing his MSW internship as a counselor intern at Therapy Austin. These roles have provided him with a strong foundation in trauma-informed care, collaborative service delivery, and mental health advocacy.

Malick is passionate about making mental health services accessible, inclusive, and empowering. His clinical interests include the neurobiology of mental health, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and the impact of social systems and community resources on psychological well-being. Outside of work, Malick enjoys dancing and swimming, experimenting in the kitchen, writing creatively, and spending time outdoors in the sun.
